The hysteria of the changes announced by Facebook
In recent days, all over social networks, people are talking about the new Facebook changes. There has been a hysteria over these changes that have been announced for some time. So we decided to talk a little about the reasons why Facebook is doing this and how it will positively influence the promotional activities of businesses that promote themselves on Facebook.
WHY IS FACEBOOK MAKING THIS CHANGE?
Every business must have a mission that guides all future activities. As we well know, Facebook was created with a purpose: that of bringing loved ones closer, and Mark Zuckerberg argues very well based on Facebook's mission, the changes that are to be implemented. When simply browsing Facebook, we can realize that much of the content of our News Feed is alsonews, sales announcements, sponsored ads and less content from friends and family.
Facebook has changed radically from how it looked and functioned in 2004, and due to changes over time, the social media platform has created new opportunities for both users and businessesAll of these implemented changes have created a new portal from Facebook where you can sell, buy, and advertise, slightly moving away from the purpose for which it was designed.
WILL FACEBOOK HAVE SOMETHING TO LOSE?
Yes and No… Think about it, Facebook makes money based on the number of users and the actions each one takes. At the same time, Facebook makes money from games and applications related to the platform, and last but not least, from advertising made by business pages. The changes that are about to be implemented will do nothing more than to encourage paid advertising. It's simple. You want to be seen, you pay!
Organic reach started to decline significantly in the last year, which led to a greater effort for businesses that wanted to promote themselves on Facebook. Interestingly, every day, new businesses create Facebook pages and invest in promoting themselves.
These days it has been the problem of migrating to other social networks such as Instagram, Linkedin, Youtube. This could affect Facebook's earnings. But, first of all we should ask ourselves a question: "How many of our customers use these networks?". Let's take Instagram for example. According to studies, 43% of users are between the ages of 18 and 24, and 22% are between the ages of 25 and 34. Thus, businesses whose target audience does not correspond to the profile of Instagram users will not have much success by placing ads here. Plus, let's not forget! Instagram belongs to Facebook, which means it also generates earnings for Facebook.
Linkedin currently has 1,750,000 Romanian users, which is about 9% of the total population and is used mostly for B2B promotion or workforce identification. This means that the vast majority of people will also be present on Facebook.
AND YET HOW DO THESE CHANGES HELP US BUSINESSES?
Although these changes at first glance will generate higher costs for advertising on Facebook, the reality is different. Facebook has made available the possibility of creating communitiesLet's not forget the recent improvements to Facebook Groups that allow you to create personalized messages welcome new members, statistically regarding the group activity and Tags specious for each member. This way you you can improve the value proposition by creating a close relationship with your business's customers.
Content is king! People aren't interested in seeing ads. They want to learn new things and relax on social media. The idea is to make people want to receive content from you, and Facebook will take care of distributing only the content that is relevant to them.
Like&Share contests will be in the sights of Facebook and will penalize those who use them. If until now Facebook did not allow such posts, through its regulations, from now on it will be much more drastic. The good part is that thus stimulating businesses to devise new means of interacting with customers. Thus, businesses will invest strictly in creating interaction with those interested people, thus eliminating the costs of "bounty hunters".
Last but not least, let's not forget that soon we will be able to follow what our competitors are promoting. Thus, Facebook offers transparency regarding promotion, and it will be easier for businesses to see what their main competitors are doing on Facebook. Until then, you can track the evolution of competing pages in the statistics section of your page. There you can add at least 5 competing pages and report on their results.
We're waiting to see what you think about all of this. So, if you have a different opinion about the changes announced by Facebook, we'd love for you to share it with us!
